In 1931, Winsloe's book was filmed as 'Mädchen in Uniform' which remains an early 20th century landmark of romantic lesbian film and received a remake in 1958. Winsloe was the first woman to write a play about lesbian women in the Weimar Republic. This novel, first published as 'Das Mädchen Manuela' in 1933, was translated by Agnes Neill Scott and is the narrative behind the play and the film. Very Good. Item #11166
